Spirit Guard Udyr Analysis

Analysis of Spirit Guard Udyr lore video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvV4hGdByJI&feature=youtu.be
Is the video for the interactive comic you could view upon logging in.

Watching this gave me shivers, and I cannot wait to see more lore related things coming from Riot from now on.

Anyways, I'm here to break down the comic page-by-page, panel-by-panel, and give insight into what this new information could mean for Ionia, and this one is gonna be pretty long, so sorry in advance.

First Page

"When rage is beyond your control...like fire, it will consume everything in its path..."
"But here among the monks...I have become something greater than myself...I have conquered my Rage."

Scary stuff we have here. The first panel we have shows a large flame burning in a temple that seems very old. There's a weathered curtain flowing in the wind, and the stone of the temple has seen better days. The upstairs lights are also on, but I think that's more for aesthetics. The second panel, we zoom in on the silhouette we saw earlier, and it is a meditating Udyr, to no surprise really. The third panel is just a badass closeup, until it zooms out to show a four eyed demonic monster watching Udyr.

Second Page

"I have become one with the four eternal spirits that protected this temple ages ago."
"Through me, the spirits still guard this place..."
"From the nightmares that seek to claim this temple's power as their own."

The first panel gives us a better look at the stalker. He's a red demon type monster with horns, gnarly teeth and claws, and interestingly enough, wearing the same beads around his neck that Udyr does. Our second and third panels are of Udyr noticing the beast, and awakening from his meditation. The third panel not only introduces the fact that these demon creatures seek to claim the temple, but also reveals that our monster was once perhaps human, due to his anatomy, and his monk like clothing.

Third Page

"I am the Tiger" *Meow*

Starts out as one panel of the monster leaping at Udyr, and you dragging his claw to knock the nerd into oblivion. If we do notice the monster's clothes again, though, I think it becomes very apparent that he was once human.

Fourth Page

"Swift. Fierce. Lord of all Beasts."

Just an absolutely amazing 3 panels of Udyr hacking and slashing at our intruder. Once again, great job, Riot.

Fifth Page

"If this temple were to fall...A great darkness would be awakened and overtake all of Runeterra..."
"So I will protect it at any cost."

Woah. Runeterra? Udyr says the secret to this temple threatens the entirety of Runeterra. Keep in mind that Ionia is a small island to the north of Valoran, and this secret threatens Runeterra? Udyr is even willing to do anything to stop these monsters.

Sixth Page

"Your numbers mean nothing..."
"I am the Turtle!!! The wise protector and preserver of life!"

Just how many of these guys are there, I wonder? Our first panel here also introduces another monster. These creatures seem to be blue in color, have two eyes, and share the same crazy claws and teeth as our red buddy. While the other one was nearly hairless, however, this one seems to have a large head of white hair, long tails, and run on all four's. If our first monster used to be human, these seem very animal like when compared....The third panel actually expands to show Udyr going turtle, and knocking the monsters back.

Seventh Page

"I am more than a mere man..."
"I am the Bear!!! The unyielding avatar of force!"

The first panel, one of the beast bites Udyr on the neck, and he throws him off of him in the second panel, like a boss. The third panel expands into Udyr going Bear form, and dunking one of the blue beasts into the temple, making stone fly.

Eighth Page

"I am the Phoenix!!! The ancient redeemer and purifier!"

Our first panel shows that at least one of the beasts has chains around his wrists. What was he locked away for? Was he held captive while in this form, or before? Our next two panels are just Udyr going phoenix mode and bursting them into flames, actually really cool.

Ninth Page

"With their strength, I fear nothing..."

Alright, Udyr, nothing? Anyways, our first panel here shows the beasts from before are defeated. Everything seems cool until the ground starts to actually crack beneath Udyr's feet in the second panel.

Tenth Page

"For though the world may stand against me..."

First panel shows udyr getting thrown into the air, second panel shows his 10/10 landing to face what comes next. In the third panel, we're introduced to yet another monster...This one resembling some sort of undead wind/lightning dragon...thing. Keep in mind that by this point, Udyr's temple is trashed...This dragon also appears to be animated by some sort of magic, it seems like. He has parts that are bone, but they're all connected by what seems to be a violent tornado.

Eleventh Page

"I am never, truly alone!"

Udyr leaping at the new enemy, and showcasing his four stances, not much else to talk about here, other than how freaking cool it just looks.

Man, you thought I was over?

This video raises so many questions! Why does Riot keep doing this!
Why does the first monster have 4 eyes, wear monk clothes, and have the same beads around his neck that Udyr does? Is it because this is what happened to the rest of the people in Udyr's temple? Why is he alone? His lore specifically says he was brought in by other monks, so where are they? Why does the second, beast like creature have chains on his wrists? What did they used to be, if the red monsters were humans? What the bajeebus is so important about these Ionian temples, and their fires? Varus was once a guardian of an Ionian temple until he became corrupted by the black flame he vowed to protect. Is that dragon the leader of what seeks to control this temple? Or is he some ancient spirit that was revived to rival the powers of the four ancient spirits that Udyr now possesses? What has Udyr done before he became a monk? "When rage is beyond your control, like fire, it will consume everything in its path. But here, among the monks, I have conquered my rage"

All I can say is, Great job to Riot, and I absolutely cannot wait for more. :)

Tying Nautilus to Amumu

How to tie Nautilus with Amumu

"Once, Nautilus was a sailor commissioned by the Institute of War to explore the uncharted reaches of the Guardian’s Sea. This expedition took him deep into unknown waters where he and his crew found a vast section of the ocean’s rich blue waves were replaced by a black, oozing liquid that none of the crew could identify."

"Perhaps one of the oddest champions in the League of Legends is the Yordle known as Amumu. His life before joining the League remains unknown... especially to Amumu. All he remembers is that he woke up alone inside a pyramid within the Shurima Desert."

Here, we have two characters that I'll bet no one has ever thought to connect before, except for the sneaky Riot lore team, of course. The first thing I'm sure you noticed was the colors I chose for the post. It's something that I wasn't able to do using Reddit, and I want to try to tell a story with it. So, without further ado, here we go...

"When Nautilus, awoke, he was something different. The great iron suit was now somehow part of him, he could not tell where it ended and he began. All he remembers is that he woke up alone, and furthermore, felt a deep sadness that he could not entirely explain. In his hands, he still clutched the anchor that belonged to the men that had condemned him. Eventually, he stood up, determined to wander the world to discover his past."

"When Amumu awoke, he was entwined in mummy wrappings, and could not feel his heart beat. All of the details of his memory were fuzzy and indistinct, but one fact remained clear; he was left here, alone, to die. Dropping to his knees, Amumu wept into his bandages. No matter what he did, it seemed he could never stop his tears or sadness. Having no other purpose, he wandered without direction or sense of passing time in search of answers"

Disclaimer: Although these are in quotes, and are pieces of official lore, they are arranged in a way that nullifies the fact that they are quotes. In this form, they are no longer meant to be taken as fact.

Alright, so that was weird right? Their lores are actually really interchangeable, and almost scary to a level.

The yordle race used to be nomadic, traveling all across valoran, which explains how amumu was left where he was, but not why. Having been exposed to multiple cultures, and the extreme conditions of the Shurima, it's most likely little mumu passed away before the Yordles reached Sablestone mountains, and they saw it fitting to bury him the way a pharoah would be. Nautilus was abandoned by his crew that had every chance to help him.

What does all of this point to, and why does it matter?

It's very apparent that someone, or something is going around Valoran reviving the dead and giving them a purpose, whether they know it or not.

Yorick, who I haven't mentioned thus far, fits into this part at least. He died a human, and since he never had any kids, his family's name is essentially abandoned. He then wakes up on the Shadow Isles, and finds out he has a job to do.

Amumu, more than likely lived a good life, but yordles are known to have various things happen to their psyche should they be away from their own kind for too long. Who ever is running around playing god knew this, and decided to revive Amumu with the purpose of spreading sadness all throughout Valoran. Amumu was buried for an unkown amount of time, perhaps centuries. Why the accumulation of sadness persisted after his yordle demise? That I don't know.

Nautilus is actually the most interesting one of them all, and there's a reason I saved him for last. He's brought back with no memory of what happened, in the same way Amumu is. He seems to be trapped inside the diver's suit in the same way that Mordekaiser is trapped in his armor, and when he finally finds land, he can't figure out who he used to be. The summoners themselves even refuse to tell him who he was on that ship with. Nautilus is a giant lore question mark. Seeing that no one will tell him who he used to be, but they are fine with spreading rumors of how scary he is, I think he may have been brought back with the purpose to spread fear. I don't know, but the last paragraph of Nautilus' lore definitely raise some interesting questions.

The Ruined king, Hecarim

Hecarim is the Ruined King of the Shadow Isles brought back to life by Karthus to kill the only person opposing the higher power in the Shadow Isles, Mordekaiser.
We already know that the Shadow Isles were once a thriving kingdom that fell when the king's daughter died, and caused it to become the cursed land of the dead. We also know that Mordekaiser betrayed the king in some way, and that way was not killing the king's daughter. If you rule out killing his daughter, there are only a few ways left that Mordekaiser could have betrayed the king. Either he killed the king himself, or he did something behind the curtains that helped the kingdom fall and become cursed. If it was the first one, why would the altar warn hecarim about Mordekaiser? He would know what Mordekaiser did. We also know that Mordekaiser's armor and undead status are a punishment or curse, that he seeks to get rid of for some reason.
When you really think about it, why would one death, the death of the king's daughter, cause an entire kingdom to fall, and become the cursed land of the dead?
So, great, what happened then? Fast forward a couple of centuries, Karthus enters the Shadow Isles, accepts undeath, and becomes a sort of god of the place with the "Keys to life and death". But wait, why a couple centuries? The events of the current Shadow Isles have actually taken a very long time to flesh out.Sometime between their creation and now, the beings Thresh(The soul collector) and Yorick(The gravedigger aka body collector) came into existence, and Yorick's lore states that he's been digging in servitude to the Isles for centuries.
The fact that they came to existence in the Isles through dying serves as proof to what Elise says about the Isles being death's gate. "That was when I understood that death was another world and I was at its door."
Hecarim's creation was shortly after Karthus gained his powers. The soul of the king was floating around the Isles along with all of the other souls kingdom's residents.Off tangent here, I believe the fog surrounding the Isles to actually be nothing more than the souls of the dead. When the king's soul was extracted to create Hecarim, it left the fog barrier weakened, and it is now Elise's job to offer souls in masses to try and strengthen it.
Many quotes and lore lines support Hecarim being the reincarnated king: "Remember who you once were, Hecarim!" - Riot's way of telling us he's important. "Mordekaiser is not to be trusted, Hecarim!" - The fact that Hecarim is the one receiving this warning is important. "others still believed him to be the creation of some hateful necromancer." - Straight from the horse's lore. Some hateful necromancer sounds exactly like a guy that hates the living and has the keys to life and death themselves.
Lemme know what you guys think :D
Tl;Dr No, pls read it.
EDIT: Upon hearing you guys' suggestions, I can definitely see it possible that Hecarim is actually the leader of the former king's cavalry/army. This could easily make just as much sense as my previous hypothesis :)

Might want to have a map up for the beginning part of this, or just take my word for it. Keep in mind that this post is a mixture of my thoughts/hypotheses and official Riot lore. I'll do my best to bold the important parts, but stay with me on this, it's gonna' be a long one.
Long ago, three tribes inhabited Mount Targon in peace with one another(Their version of peace, at least). The Solari, the highest ranking, dwelled at the very tip of Mount Targon, which was the closest to the sun. The Rakkor, mostly unimportant for the sake of the story I'm telling today, were lower down the mountain, but still well above the clouds. Finally, the Lunari resided alongside the Solari close to the top of the mountain. Diana's lore comic shows the two symbols of the Lunari and Solari combined, strengthening the ideaEast of Mount Targon lies the Guardian Sea, and at its shores, Icathia. Icathia is seen as a portal to the Void, and this is supported by many lore quotes, with the best one being: "The lost city called Icathia seems to be connected to the void, as some voidborn are known to have appeared in the place and some mortals are known to have gained the void's power in it".
Alright, so that's a small part of the map figured out, let's get the second half I need for this. Nami's lore emphasizes the fact that her tribe, the Marai need a Moonstone every 100 years to "ward off the terrors of the depths". To get this moonstone (Which is rumored to be found at the highest peak of Valoran)a chosen Marai must travel into the depths, "battle with untold horrors", and retrieve an Abyssal Pearl. Kog'Maw, the Mouth of the Abyss. If this doesn't scream void to you, then I don't know what will. So Nami's people, the Marai reside off the shoreline of Icathia. I could stop here, but I want to drag Fizz into this as well. Fizz's lore states that "an ancient water-dwelling race built a hidden city beneath a mountain in the sea."Assuming that fizz's kind have ties to the yordles, I believe this mountain to have been the Sablestone Mountains, and more importantly, the side of the mountains that touch the Guardian Sea, that is parallel with Bilgewater, and is also smack-dab next to where we just placed Nami's home. Well, why is this important? Fizz's lore states that his people became complacent due to the safety of their home, but one day, Fizz returns and his home is in ruins with not a soul in sight. What I believe happened here, is that the Marai were the reason that Fizz's kind were kept safe the whole time, and not the fact that it was a fortress. What kind of "Impenetrable fortress" falls to ruins in the time it takes Fizz to go on one adventure? While the beta site lists Fizz and Nami as friends, it doesn't add anything new to the story.
Anywho, centuries of trading Pearls for Stones passes, and a collection of the Pearls are discovered by the Solari. The Solari worship the sun, and strive to be closest to the sun as possible. These Pearls contain pure darkness taken from the very depths of the void. Possession of the Pearls is seen as a herecy by the Solari, and they slaughter all but two of the Lunari. The two Lunari that escaped, unknown by the Solari, were actually Diana's parents. This might seem like a stretch, but some of the Lunari had to survive the genocide. How else would a book containing the way of the Lunari find its way in the archives of the Solari? Why would there be a mural portraying the true past of the two tribes left with a set of Lunari armor and weapon? You could argue that someone from the Rakkor tribe did it, but there's really nothing to support that, and the fact that Diana grew up as an acolyte of the Solari, with such a strong draw to the moon, is what makes me believe that the escaped Lunari were her parents who had ties with a high ranking Solari. This Solari kept the identity of her parents unknown to the rest of the Solari, which explains the line in Diana's lore saying that she was born to the Solari.
Tl;dr The sun bros got mad at the moon bros for having crazy voidbeads that they got from talking fish people. Sun bros kill the moon bros, and because of this, talking fish people are most likely dead too...:(
Also, if we assume that I'm correct about 80% of the above stuff, we can get into some of my more interesting hypotheses behind Nautilus, and why he's related to Amumu, and a far-fetched idea tying Lulu to the Void. However, this is already too long :3
